1824 – Boundary between Calvert and Anne Arundel Counties settled
1836 – William E. Edelin sells the 437-acre Mt. Airy farm to Lewis Griffith
1894 – Establishment of Chesapeake Beach
1900, June 9 – Chesapeake Beach officially opens to the public
1900 – Philemon Chew sues the Griffith family for ownership of Mt. Airy
1900, May 5 – Philemon Chew, Richard Chew, Allen Mallery, E. Judge Williams, and Richard Knight for the North Chesapeake Beach Land and Improvement Company
1900 – North Chesapeake Beach platted
1901 – Completion of Hotel Calvert
1906 – Road constructed between North Beach and Chesapeake Beach
1906, July 1 – St. Anthony’s Church officially dedicated
1906, August – 1,000-foot pleasure pier illuminated with electricity
1908 – North Chesapeake Beach re-platted
1908, June – Telephone line erected between North Beach and Chesapeake Beach
1908, July 18 – Telephone service established between North Beach and Chesapeake Beach
1909 – Earliest mention of a post office in North Beach
1910, February – First known fire in North Beach
1910, April 13 – North Beach incorporated
1910 – North Beach police force formed
1911 – North Beach Union Church founded
1911 – North Beach School established
1915, August – First recorded hurricane hits North Beach
1916 – North Beach Railway Company organized
1916 – Construction of North Beach town hall and fire department
1917 – Closure of the North Beach School
1919 – First Ewald’s store in North Beach
1925 – Establishment of the Beaches School
1926 – North Beach Volunteer Fire Department chartered
1927 – Establishment of North Beach Amusement Company and Uncle Billie’s
1929 – Consolidated Gas Electric Light and Power Company of Baltimore extends electrical lines to North Beach and Chesapeake Beach
1933, April-August – Construction of seawall made of iron sheets
1933, June – Bus service established between Washington, DC and North Beach
1933, August – Hurricane wreaks havoc on North Beach and Chesapeake Beach, destroying dozens of cottages and buildings
1933 – Construction of Uncle Billie’s Pier
1935, April 15 – Last train leaves the Chesapeake Beach station
1935 – North Beach Railway Company disbanded
1936 – Westlawn Inn constructed
1940 – Steel bridge constructed over Fishing Creek
1940 – Ewald’s Restaurant established
1941, June – Establishment of the Naval Research Laboratory
1941, September – North Beach hosts its first Chesapeake Bay Fishing Fair
1943 – Joseph Rose builds Joe Rose’s Musical Bar
1943/44 – Steamboat service ceases to Chesapeake Beach
1944 – Franchi’s opens in the basement of the Miramar Hotel
1945 – Second North Beach town hall dedicated
1945, December – Mac’s Grill fire
1947 – Establishment of Rose Haven
1948 – Slot machines legalized in Calvert County
1951 – Joe Rose’s Musical Bar burns down
1951-1955 – Charles E. Nelson numbers racket case
1952, July – Opening of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge
1953 – Beaches School closes and Beach Elementary School opened
1954 – Hurricane Hazel severely damages North Beach and Chesapeake Beach, Uncle Billie’s Pier destroyed
1955, August – Hurricane Connie severely damages North Beach and Chesapeake Beach, sinking of the Levin J. Marvel
1959, September 19 – Dedication of the North Beach sewage system
1960 – Opening of the Gold Key Club
1968, July 1 – Slot machines fully banned in Maryland
1970 – TANS Motorcycles opens
1971 – Construction of Beach Elementary School in Chesapeake Beach
1972 – Chesapeake Beach Amusement Park/Seaside Park permanently closes
1974 – Construction of new North Beach Volunteer Fire Station
1977 – Opening of Twin Beaches Library
1979 – Closing of the Gold Key Club
1992 – Franchi’s restaurant permanently closes
1998, April 25 – Dedication of the North Beach boardwalk
2004 – Bayside History Museum established
2008 – Dedication of Boys and Girls Club
2011 – Third North Beach town hall dedicated
